A Study on a Vitiated Air Heater for a Direct-Connect Scramjet Combustor and Preliminary Test on the Scramjet Combustor Ignition

چکیده
Vitiation air heater (VAH) combustion characteristics for a direct-connect scramjet combustor (DCSC) were experimentally studied. The VAH consists of head, modular chamber, and circular-to-rectangular shape transition (CRST) nozzle. CRST nozzle transforms the circular cross-sectioned rocket-type into rectangular combustor. exit Mach numbers at top, middle, bottom measured using tungsten wedge. oblique shock formed by wedge was captured Schlieren visualization recorded with high-speed camera. θ-β-M relation showed that number 2.04 ± 0.04 chamber pressure 1.685 0.07 MPa. With design point verified, preliminary ignition tests conducted. As fuel not auto-ignited vitiated air, forced method, in which flame ignites fuel, used. images cavity shear layer mode also method could be used as reference model ignitor-ignition method.
